What are the Legal Limits?

A question that we are asked a lot is how dark can your vehicle windows be tinted. The legal limits for automotive window tint vary from state to state. According to section 307.173 of the Missouri Statues, the current automotive window tint VLT (Visible Light Transmission) legal limits are:

 

  • Glare Strip (brow): No VLT limit, tint no lower than the AS1 markings on windshield

  • Front Driver/Front Passenger Windows: 35% VLT

  • Rear Driver/Rear Passenger Windows: No VLT limits 

  • Rear Glass (Back glass): No VLT limits

  • Tolerance: +-3%
